Rami Scully

I was born and raised in Washington State and spent much of my time enjoying mountain climbing and woods exploration. I graduated from the University of Washington with a BA. After marriage and an invitation to join the army, we were stationed in Germany, and then San Antonio where I took ceramics at the Art Institute.

Every place where we have been stationed or traveled, I have done art, but it was more as a hobbyist. When we first moved to El Paso in 1974, I took a few stoneware and painting classes at UTEP until we purchased a small farm in the Upper Valley. In the midst of farm chores, I became a Christian and started doing works from a Biblical perspective, in both clay and paint.

Now that our daughters are grown and my husband is retired, he tends to the farm chores and I am happy to say that painting is becoming a closer to fulltime discipline. I have also taken a few workshops and am now enjoying work in oil and pastels, plus acrylics and prismacolored pencils.

When we do on site painting, I like to try to do the thing that is special to that particular site, thus learn to see and do animals, machinery, architecture, etc. Plein Air has been a fabulous growing experience. I have really enjoyed the camaraderie with kindred spirits.

Some of the paintings may be available for sale. All of the artwork is ORIGINAL.
